How cool, there is a weblog coming live! from the World Summit on Sustainable Development.

Flowers in the attic
Remember that cheesy book that everyone (my age-ish) read in High School? Those pale, ghostly children behind the shiny cut-out cover of that book. I never read them, they looked “scary”. I was such a superstitious, catholic-type at the time. Someone actually named their flower store Flowers in the Attic. Ahhh, but I see they are in Hong Kong. Maybe creepy 80’s novels didn’t make it there. AND it looks like they made it into a movie in 1987. The year I graduated from high school. Must have been busy studying or hiding in my parent’s basement to notice the release of that cinematic masterpiece.
All this because I am putting up a couple of more flower pics. I try and keep flowers in the house (but not the attic) as long as I can. Stretch the ol’ summer out here in the tundra.

Dough ray me
I still eat pizza at the place downstairs despite a reliable report that an employee dropped dough on the floor and still made pizza out of it. Does that make me disgusting?

awwwwwwww
My mother took my two nieces on a sleepover to their hobby farm last week. In the afternoon they went to the neighbouring farm to look at the baby kitties. (if anyone doubts my love to kitties in anyway, you should know I look at www.ratemykitten.com everyday). Anyhoo, my mom asked Niece 1, my 6 year old niece if she could pick one kitty to take home which one would she pick. Apparently Niece 1 answered without hesitation; “the one with one eye”. Isn’t that sweet? That comment alone could keep me going all week.
See I knew I would run out of quirky titles fast
I have to share this picture with you. It was taken while we were in Iowa for Mark’s brother’s wedding. We were in Davenport, Iowa on our way to see a movie to escape the un-freakin-bearable heat. It is a classic. Notice the addition of “Rust Master 6000″ along the back of the car. And are those bullet holes?

hrm, this could get hard
I really should get going on editing my template here. I am not sure I want to be adding titles to every entry. What if I run out of ideas? My titles would become something like; “purple and green rigglefritz”. Nonsense.
I wanted to add this loverly photo of a couple of gladioli from my garden. T’was a poor year for glads this year. Again, I blame the drought along with the cold spring.

I am going for a massage tonight…. ooooo. I need one. I feel all crinky.
Gwynnie
I had this dream last night that Gwyneth Paltrow and I went “clubbing”. She is remarkably charming in person! First we went to a swish dinner with her mom Blythe. It was a fabulous dinner with tons of food. Even though Gwyneth claims to be following a strick macrobiotic diet, I swear I saw her eat some prime rib. The highlight of dinner was when a snooty waiter, played by David Ogden Stiers (Charles Winchester III of M*A*S*H) fame, accused me of not belonging. After all I wasn’t famous or rich. I then recited a fabulous (and loud) speech about how I had every right to be there because I was so clever and interesting and Canadian! Everyone applauded and Gwyneth was happy she brought me, her new friend along. Then we took a cab to a club in “the hood” (those crazy eccentric starlets). It was actually pretty scary, but we had fabulous outfits on, so no one seemed to mind. We barely made it out of there after a few dances. I look forward to more outings with Gwynnie – she has great fashion sense, the most recent Oscars aside.

12 steps
I am seriously addicted to ratemykitten.com. I need some sort of 12 step-one-day-at-atime-easy-does-it type of program. I keep checking the top 20 cats to see where my favourites are. Someone help me.
This is my kitty Cleo. I can’t find a good one of Benoit at the moment.

So, Mark and I went to “the chop house” and they did not bring out a few cows for us to select from. Emminently dissapointing. It was tasty though. Eating a filet mignon is sort of far away from being a vegetarian though right? I know ethically, economically and probably for health reasons, not eating meat is a wise choice. But I am weak. Weak! We also shared dessert, which wasn’t very diabetic friendly of me, but it was chocolatey goodness. See above, re: weak.
The girl across the street is having her 18th birthday party. Her mom came over at 11(!) to let me know it might be noisy. Of course Mark is sleeping right through it. As I have said a million times (never exagerate) Mark could sleep through a Nuclear Holocaust. In this case, he can sleep through bad rap music and kids getting “faced” on clear malt beverages and fruity coolers.

1825 days
So, we have been married 1825 days. It feels like just the other day and a million years ago all at the same time. Mark sent me roses. If I knew how to insert an img in MT I would do it, they are lovely. It is nice to get roses since the ones in my garden this year were crap because of the drought.
Tonight, we are going out to dinner to River City Chop House. Am I the only one who expects someone to be showing us a cow to stun and eat a la the Simpsons or SNL? You pick ‘em, stun ‘em and we grill ‘em!! etc.

Ok hi
Ok, so im trying to blog. I realize I am catching on late, but thats my way. Right now I am using this pre-fabbed template business from moveabletype but I hope to create my own snazzy look in short order. There will be an about section, maybe some photos of my cats, the hubby, the garden. Pretty much standard straight girl blog fare. But, to quote Yoda; “do or do not, there is no try”. Is that really a relevant quote here? naah, but Mark (the hubby) and I say it all the time and it felt like time.
By way of introduction, I am Jennifer, I am 32, I work in web design/communications/marketing at a major university in Alberta, Canada. We have 2 kitties, Benoit and Cleo, we are in fact, crazy cat people. Both kitties are in the room with me right now, trying to tell me something – maybe I forgot a line break or something. They are so web saavy.
Thats it for now. I think I will read some *gasp* documentation about MT.
