I feel lucky tonight. To have friends, both in ‘real life’ and in the blog world, who are fabulous. To be fortunate enough to be able to go to yoga, come home to nice kitties and wait for Mark to get back from D&D.
I know I mentioned kitties. Yes, of course I will put up another kitty picture. Cat pictures seem to really piss off blog critics.
Seriously though, are they not cute?

And here are some more pics of Mark and I carving up our punkins. Which reminds me I have to put up my pumpkin lights. Maybe I will do that as soon as I post this. Oh yeah! Mine is the skeleton and Mark’s is the kitty.

I think I am over analyzing my blog posts before I even post them. Are they interesting enough? Funny? Original? Boring? Too Personal? Then I just toss in the towel and either don’t write anything or I write something boring. So to continue that trend, here are some things.
I got a raise today. Ooooo you are all excited and proud of me aren’t you? But wait. It is actually a union negotiated increment. Thats right, not a raise, an increment. AND, everyone on campus that is support staff gets one. It is hard to complain about 4 percent, but I am just letting you know that I didn’t get it because I’m special.
Last night I helped at a mentor training event that my faculty sponsors. It is an email mentorship program intended to encourage girls to be interested in science and engineering by matching them with women in science/engineering. I believe it the project wholeheartedly. Ironically, I cannot participate as a mentor, because even though I work in IT for a living, I have a BA and not a science degree. Oh well. I wish I would have had a mentor when I was a young’un. Anyone in Alberta who is interested should check out scibermentor. We need more mentors and mentees! Ironically totally doesn’t sound like word…
Tonight I have yoga, but I would rather be shopping. What with my increment and everything I am made of money. I want to be done all christmas shopping by the end of November. Malls in December are just so wrong.

Weekend wrap-up
Friday night I spent in bed with a headache and recovered enough to watch Death To Smoochy with Mark.
Saturday afternoon I was outside in freezing temperatures planting tulips, lilies and other bulbs so that I can see such things bloom in spring. Even a hot bath could not thaw me. Mark and I went out for Korean food with friends and saw Bowling for Columbine, but not before we remembered that we forgot to return Death to Smoochy.
Sunday morning we went for an early lunch and grocery shopping. We then came home to search for the Death to Smoochy DVD which was hidden in a really good spot. Then I lay on the couch for a good while thinking about other things I should be doing. My parents came for dinner, which was tasty despite my late start. We had pasticcio and salad and pumpkin pie (which I didn’t make). Then Mom and Dad and I watched Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone since they had not seen it. Mom helped me start a scarf and I am now a knitting fool!
Tonight Mark and I are hoping to carve up some stylie pumpkins for the kiddies to enjoy. We even bought a pumpkin carving kit with special tiny pumpkin saws. If they look good I will post pictures.

Damn you Tim Hortons, damn you and your tasty deep fried treats.

So I am thinking of changing my name. I am not sure in what configuration yet, but it will include “headache” in there somewhere since I feel so closely tied to the word and affliction. Maybe I will ask people to just call me “heady” from now on. Although that reminds me of Hedra from Single White Female. Jennifer Jason Leigh plays a good psycho. But I digress.
I will digress even more and let you, my people, know that I joined the Instant Messaging revolution. I just didn’t feel cool enough without it anymore. Like wearing Roadrunner instead of Rainbow jeans in grade 7. Or Fancy Ass jeans, anyone remember those? Anyhoo. I am jennuia on AIM. I haven’t used it yet, but message me if you want. We can see if it works!

Warning: Using a totally boring personal update as a blog entry today
1. My in-laws left this morning after more than three weeks.
2. I have a zit that hurts and is way too close to my left eye.
3. I still haven’t planted my tulips and lilies for the spring and it has already snowed here.
4. I am looking forward to watching television tonight and working on the ass groove in the couch.
5. My life is apparently SO boring I can only think of 4 things.
6. NO NO NO, I am wearing my favourite shoes today.
